The Pittsburgh Steelers pulled off an upset in Week 1, defeating the reigning AFC champion Cincinnati Bengals. But the win came at a steep cost, with last season’s Defensive Player of the Year, T.J. Watt, suffering a pectoral injury that the team initially thought would cost him the rest of the 2022 season. On Tuesday, it was revealed that Watt did not require surgery and is now expected back sometime near the middle of the season. Following that news, head coach Mike Tomlin summed up the situation thusly, “We are in a lot better place than we were in after the game.” The Steelers host Mac Jones and the New England Patriots in Week 2.
