Finding ourselves in the midst of a year full of uncertainty and unrest, I’ve been thinking a lot about LA. I came across this unpublished photoshoot from right before we moved to England; it’s so strange to think about what a different time that was and how new 2020 feels in comparison. To relive this sunny day on Sunset Boulevard I dug out these fab navy vinyl trousers (I’d forgotten how much I love leather) and thought about how I would style them for an English summer, which will not be as warm as an LA one! I can’t help but feel excited about dressing up in my leather trousers and going out with friends like I used to.
PVC and leather are a big statement, so if I ever wear them, I want the other half of me to have a completely different texture. A cropped sweater for a breezy day, a crisp white shite for a more tailored silhouette, or a simple cotton tee.
What will make you a fan of vinyl, leather or PU trousers is realising the full potential of their versatility. They can be worn from day to night with a quick change of accessories…and I’m all for a hard working item of clothing. During the day I’d wear these with a flat pair of mules or trainers. For a glamorous night out, why not wear elegant heels and a big pair of earrings?
