Vivek Ramaswamy‘s wife Apoorva said it was a ‘bummer’ when Eminem‘s legal team told the 2024 hopeful to stop publicly rapping his music.

Apoorva Ramaswamy, 34, told DailyMail.com in her first print interview that in the long run her husband’s ability to recite one of Eminem’s most popular songs isn’t important. But that didn’t stop the biotech millionaire from being a bit disappointed by the news.

During the Iowa State Fair in August, Gov. Kim Reynolds asked 2024 candidates what their favorite hype-up song is. Vivek Ramaswamy, 38, said he likes to walk-out to Lose Yourself by rapper Eminem.

As Reynolds’ team started playing the song when wrapping up her ‘Fairside Chat’ with Ramaswamy, he held onto the mic and started rapping the lyrics in a moment that has now gone viral.

But Eminem apparently didn’t want the Republican candidate using his music and had his music licenser BMI send a cease and desist letter to Ramaswamy’s campaign lawyers to revoke the team’s license to use his music.

Vivek Ramaswamy, 38, rapped Lose Yourself by Eminem during the Iowa State Fair in August after Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds asked the candidate what his favorite walk-out song is – and followed-up by playing it for the crowd

‘For what it’s worth, Vivek and the campaign didn’t turn on the music,’ Apoorva explained in her interview on Sunday. ‘It was from the folks of Iowa who turned on the music so there was nearly nothing for us to cease and desist from.’

‘We’re in it for the long run,’ she added of her husband’s campaign. ‘He loves that song – so it was a bummer.’

‘But that’s not at all an important part of this.’

The couple are of the millennial generation, which grew up listening to Eminem’s music in the 1990’s and 2000’s. If elected, Ramaswamy would be the youngest president in U.S. history at 38.

He has flouted his age during campaign events as an asset and has not shied away from those who claim he is too inexperienced to be President.

Some suggest that Ramaswamy is auditioning with his presidential run to be on the ticket with former President Donald Trump as the vice president.

But Apoorva insists this is not true.

‘He’s not used to not being the boss. He runs companies,’ she told DailyMail.com.

‘I’ve known this man for a while now,’ she added. ‘There’s a reason why he’s an entrepreneur and didn’t climb to CEO from within a big company.’

When asked whether she has any deviations from her husband’s political positions, Apoorva merely joked that she likely wouldn’t ‘rap as much as he does’ if she were the one running for President.

The throat surgeon and mother-of-two also admitted that they are a family full of opinions.

‘We are both very strong people and on principles and the ideas we agree 100%,’ Apoorva noted.

She joked: ‘Certainly I would not rap as much as he does.’

‘I think I’m very proud of what he’s doing. And I think if people take the time to actually listen to his whole message, he does it with a sense of respect for all Americans, and true regard for our autonomy and our ability to rise above, which I’m really proud of him for.’

Apoorva and Vivek met at Yale when she was studying medicine and he was studying law. They married in 2015

At one point, Apoorva’s one-year-old son Arjun could be heard crying as they traveled through Iowa on the campaign bus.

‘Sorry, our littlest man is going crazy right now,’ Apoorva said. ‘He has lots of opinions too.’

The couple’s other son is Karthik, four.

Apoorva and Vivek met at Yale when he was studying law and she was studying medicine. They married in 2015 and now share two children. Both of them come from a household with one brother and two Indian immigrant parents.

While Vivek Ramaswamy went on to co-found a handful of businesses – specifically in the asset management, hedge fund and biotech sphere – Apoorva is now a throat surgeon and assistant professor in Ohio.

Apoorva’s father was also a surgeon.

Apoorva Tewari Ramaswamy’s father is also a surgeon. Both of her parents are immigrants from India – just like Vivek’s parents
